Landscape painter, engraver and illustrator, Rowland Hilder was born in 1905 in Great Neck, Long Island USA. His parents moved to England in 1915, when he was ten years old.
Critics say his Turner of his generation. It is well-known paintings of the landscape rural Kent caused such a flattering comparison.
Was in college, "Goldsmith School of Art" in 1920, and at the Royal Academy in London from the age of eighteen.
First exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1923. Rowland Hilder also was a professor of drawing for ten years at Goldsmiths College School of Art.
Hilder - an outstanding artist painter, and he illustrated numerous books, including Moby Dick, Treasure Island and Mary Webb Precious Bane.
